The water catching plants (Choyini: Lane), are plants which catch rainwater with their big leaves so it does not compete with other plants for ground water. They can often close their leaves to prevent the evaporation of water. water catching plants are a good source of fresh, drinkable water. The leaves release small organisms which use photosynthesis to produce useful substances for the tree, which it absorbs through the leaves.
Some water catching plants release poisonous substances into their water. This happens mostly in areas where rain is not as common.
